Our Approach

At Edward Bears Private Daycare we follow closely the Curiosity Approach pedagogy.

This is a modern, innovative educational philosophy that combines elements from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Steiner, and Te Whāriki approaches to create an environment rich in opportunities for children to engage in play-based learning driven by their own interests and curiosity.

It emphasises creating aesthetically pleasing, natural, and engaging environments that inspire children to explore and learn. This approach focuses on using real-life objects and materials, rather than plastic toys, to encourage children to use their imagination and develop their creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.

The Curiosity Approach advocates for respectful interactions where educators see children as competent, confident learners, capable of directing their own learning journey.

Our role is to facilitate, guide, and support, rather than direct, allowing children's natural curiosity to lead the way.

This method aims to foster a love of learning, independence, and resilience in children from an early age, setting a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
